The Hustler

Maybe I watched it late. But it’s always great to watch humanity and characteristics criticized in the shape of sports. Paul Newman acted in a lovely role in a great classic movie. Maybe I never find time to review this movie but it will remind me something which will teach me what life, joy and happiness really is. A great class of Life and Cinema which is strongly recommended.

Fast Eddie: I’m the best you ever seen, Fats. I’m the best there is. And even if you beat me, I’m still the best.
Bert Gordon: Stay with this kid; he’s a LOSER.

Eden Lake

I don’t know how can a man like this kinda movie?! There’s nothing really special expect good landscapes. The acting couldn’t be worse than this. The screenplay was a complete disaster. And you’ll find everything a bad movie could have in this one.

Five Minutes of Heaven

Another good performance from the director of Der Untergang, Oliver Hirschbiegel. A story about revenge which is powerfully told. Winner of directing and screenwriting award in Sundance Film Festival.

Alistair Little :

For me to talk about the man I have become, you need to know about the man I was.

Movielister

About a month ago, I made a site for listing movies with details which helps movie collectors to make a complete list of their ones. The site gets the movie data from IMDb and there’s already a collection of 200000 titles in it’s database (out of IMDb’s 1400000). There’s still lots of problems but I thought it’s not bad to introduce it here, maybe you use it and give me feedback. I’ll be thankful if you tell me the problems of it so I can make it better.

Marty

The only film which has won both best picture oscar and golden palm awards, Marty, is about a man who can’t find a good couple for himself and he is disappointed about marriage…
Marty and his girlfriend Clara were considered to be ugly but it was not so true. There were both kinda cute :D Clara’s face was full of feeling reminded me the girl in City Lights. Full of great and pure passion.
All the performances were great. I was wondering how Esther Minciotti could talk that way pretending to be Italian. Of course she was Italian but her accent in this film was some kind of a new.
The dialogue and specially Marty’s ones were great. There were lots of Tarantino-like disputation and nonsense dialogs. It’s hard to pick just one dialog but there’s one I really love:

Marty Pilletti :

All my brothers and brothers-in-laws tell me what a good-hearted guy I am. You don’t get to be good-hearted by accident. You get kicked around long enough, you become a professor of pain.

Tehran Anar Nadarad

New ideas always work. Everything is new in this film, specially for Iranians !
What I always tell everyone to do about watching a movie is that they imagine they’ve invited a bunch of people to watch it with them and worry about that if they like it or not… and that was what i done about this Iranian documentary…
The historic parts were really great. I didn’t even know those lots of films has remained after those lots of bad years in this kind of country.
After all what i have to say about this film is it didn’t really focused on important problems and maybe the purpose was not to make any difficulty, maybe the goddamn ministry of culture didn’t let them to censure.

You shouldn’t be ashamed of yourself because you’re an Iranian. You should be ashamed of yourself because you’re living with Iranian people…

Grand Hotel

Watching the best picture oscar winner of 1933, Grand Hotel, was really a great experience for me. The film’s about different people meeting each other in Grand Hotel by chance, and their love affairs and a struggle between love, money, honor, …
It was the first performance of Greta Garbo I’ve ever seen but was kinda disappointing. She was good in body language and expression but her coquettes was not the way a man could like much, specially in our age. In opposite Joan Crawford was absolutly great for her role as a stenographer.
After all the casting was good including a couple of greatest stars of hollywood 1930s.
The second significant point of the film was it’s good screenplay which is written by William A. Drake based on a novel named “Menschen im Hotel”…
My favorite dialog from this picture:

Dr. Otternschlag :

Grand Hotel… always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens.

Strongly recommended …!

I remember…

You don’t know how I like this sentence I see on my pencil case every minute, but I really enjoy reading it !

And god knows why this must be written on a pencil case with a value of 1000 tomans and even what it means… !!

I remember… when we were angels

I remember... when we were angels

* I believe that a pencil case is really better than a book for someone to pretend studying !
